Before Bad Brains, the Sex Pistols or even the Ramones, there was a band called Death.
Punk before punk existed, three teenage brothers in the early '70s formed a band in their spare bedroom, began playing a few local gigs and even pressed a single in the hopes of getting signed. But this was the era of Motown and emerging disco. Record companies found Death’s music— and band name—too intimidating, and the group were never given a fair shot, disbanding before they even completed one album. I'm always amazed of some of the things I read about on here..in this to read about this band.
ReplyDeleteJust imagine if Death was around today. Probably would have been legendary .To me, the idea of them not being signed to any contracts is still crazy to me. I admit, that name is spooky, but its supposed to be about the quality of the music.Besides,when did rock/alternative music become classical music?
I'm thankful for Black rockers like Death, Thin Lizzy and Jimmy Hendrix because if it weren't for them Black rockers of today and I would be able to appreciate it.
